They also started producing various popular snacks from potato chips to grain-based namkeen.

By 1999 Balaji Wafers had established Gujarat’s inaugural fully mechanized Potato Chips Factory. By 2006 The company took Gujarat’s 90% share of the chips market. Now, the company operates production facilities that can produce 3400 kg of chips per hour. And also offer employment to 2,50,000. Individuals.

He founded Balaji Wafers Ltd in 1974.

Success Story of Chandubhai Virani’s Balaji Wafer:-

Chandubhai Virani was born into an average farmer family. Chandubhai’s Father Shri. Popat Ramjibhai Virani handed ₹20,000 to his 3 sons Meghjibhai, Bhikhubhai, and Chandubhai to spend properly in the year 1972.

From that money, Chandubhai set up a tiny shed in the courtyard with an estimated cost of ₹10,000 and began trials with producing chips. and also worked 3 canteens daily, Later he started distributing wafers to another 25 – 30 merchants, in 1984 They settled on the name ‘ Balaji Wafer’s Limited’. There were back-to-back difficulties for business, But Nothing stopped Chandubhai, who remained in his efforts despite the setbacks. Believing that things will improve and never sacrificing quality.

Nowadays Balaji Wafer’s Limited has 4 factories with combined processing capabilities of 6.5 million kg of potato chips and 10 million kg namkeen per day. The company went on to develop a firm with revenue of rupees 2000 crore in 2017.

Balaji produces over 30 other salty snacks and savories in addition to potato wafers. Their third factory launched in 2008 in Valsad, Gujarat, India. can handle 9000 kg of potatoes per hour. which is the biggest capacity in Asia.
